Seiko Air Divers 200M Prospex Special Edition, PADI. Automatic.

This is my 4th Seiko Diver. I started to own these in the 1980’s. For the most part they did a decent job. The most recently retired “Monster” that I owned was really all not that durable, in fact I was rather surprised how tender of a time piece it was. The other 2 previous divers held up very well but the automatic movements suffered overtime with loss of accuracy. Seiko has a “factory” service center located in Northern New Jersey. Just sending in your watch is a $100.00 dollar minimum endeavor, then they hit you with the repair bill. There are various jewelers on the Internet that specialize in rebuilding/servicing Seiko divers but most have a 6 month waiting list and costs start at about $350.00 and go from there. For that reason the Seiko brand came into question when you consider this would be watch number 4 with 3 others collecting dust. For my hard earned dollar it seems like it’s a throw away watch when the service costs are far greater than what the watch is worth. This recent Seiko diver purchase was very carefully considered. I needed a watch that could be hand wound, fully waterproof, had a day date feature, a rotating bezel and good lume for dark conditions. Based on reviews from watch geeks the world over, the 4R36 Seiko movement was accurate, durable and a step up over previous divers automatic movements. As far as fit and finish, this model watch with it’s all stainless steel band definitely has some wrist weight. The band fits beautifully on the wrist with adjustments on the clasp end to facilitate a real decent fit as far as rigid bands go. I normally wear a nylon 5 ring military type band for my needs and had planned on swapping this stainless band out but it fits so well I am holding off. The bezel on this model is very nice. It has nice movement and is easy to grasp and does not feel cheap. The day date feature is easy to use and view. The lume is bright even after 8 hours all things considered. The PADI model has a blue dial coupled with a blue and red bezel. Based on advertising images on the web I was a little concerned that the watch was going to be a little brighter and showier than I originally had wanted, but after receiving the watch I was delighted that the face and bezel were closer to a hue that bordered on black. The red was also closer to a maroon not a bright red. Since wearing the watch I have noticed no time loss/gain as of yet. I am really hoping they got this movement right for the long haul. I work in a very rural setting so having cell signal, watch battery replacement abilities and all the other luxuries of civilization is not really an option. That reason coupled with long periods of winter darkness made a solar powered model not a good choice either. The PADI version is a bit dressier which I wanted without being overbearing or gaudy. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would give the Seiko Prospex PADI diver a solid 10 for the money. Let’s hope that it’s intended purpose of keeping accurate time in harsh conditions stays strong.Read full review...

Condense under crystal :(

Hi guys! At first I was very happy with my purchase. The watch indeed is an awesome piece and for halved the price the deal is a no-brainer. I've been swimming with them couple of times before, However just yesterday I've been swimming wearing them with perhaps 2m dive. And suddenly the condense showed off after I put them on again the same day. Considering the fact I never wear them with unscrewed crown, the watch should have been opened before and poorly sealed then. Now I'm very frustrated about this item... hopefully the service will keep the mechanism alive...we'll see.Read full review...

Favorite watch

I received my Prospex PADI turtle 2 weeks ago and I haven’t worn another watch since. It’s 44mm but because of the shape it seems and feels smaller. The color of the face and bezel are perfect and I think they look better in person than any picture can show. I changed my bracelet to a leather Barton band and now I can change the look whenever I want.. The 4R36 movement seems to be accurate enough since I set the time to my iPhone time 2 weeks ago and they are still in sync.. not bad!! I can’t recommend this enough to anyone that is looking for a great looking watch with some collectibility and value.. probably the best diver for the money out there!Read full review...

Great looking diver that wears very comfortably.

I really like the looks of the watch and the case shape is classic and wears very well, even on a smaller wrist. The stock bracelet is good quality but heavy so I added an OEM Seiko rubber strap. Looks great and much lighter at 121g on Rubber strap. Excellent lume as usual, average accuracy at -15/day.Read full review...

Amazing dollar for dollar best dive watch for the money update just bought another a year after first seiko to save money has cheapened box.

I own many high end dive watches in the 3-13000 range. Dollar for dollar this watches dial Bezel and case construction are on par as is the movement which seiko makes in house. First week lost six seconds a day as it broke in second week 3-4 seconds a day which is within chronometer standards of 3-5 a day. Bracelet is not assembled with screws , yes but the watch was 265.00 and remember before the mid 80s Rolex submariner had a bracelet construction inferior to this. I bought a few I know once they are sold out they will be 700-1000 easilyRead full review...

Great Looking PADI

I’m actually in the process of collecting several PADI’s, this Samurai is just an added pleasure to the collection, I really enjoy the watch, it’s a Seiko, if you’ve never owned a Seiko, or plan too in the near future, this one is a great start. The reason I give it only 4 stars, I expected to receive the watch inside it’s plastic simulated dive box, a bit disappointed. It arrived inside the genetic Seiko Watch box.Read full review...

Seiko SRPA21 Padi Turtle Watch

This watch is a great buy, the fit and finish is top notch and I love this watch. I have to keep looking at my wrist to make sure I am wearing a watch, it is very light in my opinion, and looks great in the sunlight. I swapped out the bracelet for a nato strap and it matches great. No regrets, and great addition to my watch collection.Read full review...

Beautiful Watch that shows the quality that it is.

I have been wearing Seiko watches for over 40 years now. My present Seiko (Kinetic) I bought a Costco, I beat the hell out of it and it is like the Ever-ready Bunny... it keeps going and going and going. So when the time came to buy a new watch for casual wear (I use my old Kinetic when doing chores or on the boat), I had a hard time trying to find something nice for under $500. Then Seiko came out with the PADI.

From the moment I opened the box, I knew that this watch was special. The colors are amazing. The shine is just fantastic. It is a heavy watch, that has some meat to it, and it shows. This is a timepiece to be admired, and used.

I have only worn it now for a few days. It keeps excellent time. The day/date is a big plus. In truth, there is nothing not to like about this watch except for one small item: If you do not wear it, it does not stay "charged" for more than 24 hours. So you will have to reset if it sits in a drawer for more than a day.

This is truly a beautiful watch. If you are able to snag one before Seiko stops manufacturing them, you will not be sorry.
